Follow these recommendations to help prevent injuries on inflatable slides
1. Inflatable slides should not be used in wet weather. Surfaces can become slippery and cause children to fall.
2. Inflatable slide should not be used in the presence of high winds. Slides can flip over in high winds if not secured correctly.
3. The slides must be well secured to the ground and away from hazardous objects. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for installation of the inflatable bouncer.
4. Soft matting should cover hard surfaces around the open sides of the inflatable slide.
5. Provide constant adult supervision. In public setting, make sure trained personnel are available to set up, operate and supervise equipment.
6. Restrict the number of children playing on the slides to the manufactures recommendations. Never overcrowd the inflatable slide.
How to clean inflatable slides
1. Expand the slide, and place it on a cover to keep the bottom safe from dirt and grass. Spray the slide completely with a garden hose to remove the loose dirt from it.
2. Apply vinyl cleanser to a soft wiper or straight to the slide. You can also use a solution of mild dish soap with water if you don't have vinyl cleaner available with you.
3. Use the soft mop to rub down all areas of the slide. Apply more cleanser to parts which are stained or very muddy and brush until it gets clean.
4. Clean the soap off with a garden hose. Let the slide to air dry. You might need to apply a soft cloth to dry out layers and folds as they will grip more water and aretime-consuming to dry.
5. Next, you need to spray the slide with a domestic antiseptic. Make sure to spray all tops with the sterilizer to kill any germs or rust left over after cleaning.
6. Also, keep the slides dry and out of the sunshine to stop damage from UV rays, up until the next use.
How to repair a tear in an inflatable slide
1. Determine where the hole is in the slide. If it’s a small tear, it may be hard to find. One way to easily find the hole is to spray the deflated area with soapy water. Then reinflate the slide and look for bubbles. That’s where the hole is.
2. Make sure the area around the hole is dry before repairing it. Mark the hole by placing four strips of masking tape around it, making a small square.
3. Sew up the hole using a needle and strong thread. The majority of inflatable slides come with a repair kit that may include thread, a patch and glue. You can purchase a repair kit at most stores that sell inflatables.
4. Patch the area. The glue should be HH-66 glue or something similar (see References). The patch should be a least a half inch bigger than the tear. Spread a small amount of glue around the surface and attach the patch to the newly sewn hole.
5. Allow time for the patch to dry. Do not leave the inflatable outside at night; a small amount of rain or dew could disrupt the drying of the glue. If the patch fails when you try inflating the water slide again, send the slide to a professional to be repaired.
